When given the green light to make his first Pee-wee Herman movie, Paul Reubens began writing a remake of his favorite childhood film, Pollyanna<\/em>. But when a 1947 Schwinn Racer bike suddenly appeared outside his Warner Bros. bungalow office, Reubens and co-writers Phil Hartman and Michael Varhol pivoted. Describing the simple conceit of his \u201cquest film,\u201d Reubens said, \u201cPee-wee Herman loves his bike, bike is stolen, gets the bike back.\u201d Pee-wee\u2019s Big Adventure<\/em>, Tim Burton’s debut feature, became a sleeper hit and a bona fide pop-culture phenomenon, launching Pee-wee into the stratosphere. The film\u2019s legacy\u2014now in its 40th year\u2014remains unparalleled. It is a masterwork of endlessly entertaining imagination and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museum is conveniently located on the historic Park Blocks in the center of downtown Portland, which is easy to get around by public transit or on foot. The Portland Business Alliance has installed way-finding signs which direct you to the cultural district, where the Museum is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is generally plenty of street parking surrounding the Museum. These spaces range from 1 \u2013 4 hours and can be paid for using a credit card or the Parking Kitty app<\/a>. There are also surface parking lots, and parking garages within 1 \u2013 4 blocks of the Museum. The closest surface lot is located at SW Main St. between SW 10th Ave. and Park Ave, and there are dedicated accessible and van accessible spaces. This lot accepts credit card or the Reef app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public transit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Getting to get to the Museum by public transportation is straightforward and economical.
