Edward Steichen, the renowned modernist photographer and lieutenant commander who oversaw Naval photography during World War II, selected Jorgensen\u2014a Reed College attendee and editor at&nbsp;<em>The Oregonian&nbsp;<\/em>newspaper\u2014to serve with his elite Naval Aviation Photographic Unit. Between 1943 and 1945, Jorgensen photographed on board the aircraft carriers USS&nbsp;<em>Lexington<\/em>&nbsp;and USS&nbsp;<em>Monterey<\/em>, the destroyer USS&nbsp;<em>Albert W. Grant<\/em>, and the hospital ship USS&nbsp;<em>Solace<\/em>, which served in the Pacific during the world-altering conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The works in this exhibition draw from a recent acquisition of vintage prints gifted to the Museum by Victoria Jorgensen Carman and Lee Jorgensen, the photographer\u2019s daughters. The Portland Business Alliance has installed way-finding signs which direct you to the cultural district, where the Museum is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is generally plenty of street parking surrounding the Museum. These spaces range from 1 \u2013 4 hours and can be paid for using a credit card or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/parkingkitty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Parking Kitty app<\/a>. There are also surface parking lots, and parking garages within 1 \u2013 4 blocks of the Museum. The closest surface lot is located at SW Main St. between SW 10th Ave. and Park Ave, and there are dedicated accessible and van accessible spaces. This lot accepts credit card or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/reef-mobile-parking-made-easy\/id1502843483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reef app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Public transit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting to get to the Museum by public transportation is straightforward and economical.
